Saudi Arabian Minister of Transport and Logistics participates in the Second Global Sustainable Transport Conference

On October 14th, H.E. Minister of Transport and Logistics, Saleh Al Jasser participated virtually in the Second Global Sustainable Transport Conference held in Beijing, China. The conference brought together key stakeholders from Governments, UN bodies, the private sector, and civil society to discuss the importance of sustainable transport for the achievement of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Transport enables the mobility of people and goods, improves access to quality services, such as health and education, and strengthens connectivity at all levels. Yet, the negative environmental, social and health aspects of transport must be recognised. Sustainable transport seeks to fully realize the benefits while avoiding or alleviating the negative effects.

Minister Al Jasser commented on Saudi Arabia’s commitment to sustainability and green initiatives. He said, “we believe that achieving sustainable transportation systems will have a direct impact improving the quality of life for current and future generations”.

The conference reflected the diversity, complexity and importance of the transport sector and provided the opportunity for dialogue on new and stronger partnerships and initiatives for the advancement of sustainable transport.
