KSA Participates in IMO Panel for Celebration for International Day for Women in Maritime
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia participated in the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) international conference for International Day for Women in Maritime 2023. Saudi Arabia was represented by Dr Lina Eyouni, Manager for Marine Planning and Monitoring within the Red Sea Zone of Environmental Protection and Regeneration on the closing panel of Day One, ‘Breaking The Glass Ceiling.’

Dr. Ann Fenech, the President of the Comité Maritime International (CMI) and Partner at Fenech & Fenech Advocates.

Captain Radhika Menon, Co-founder of International Women Seafarer Foundation (IWSF)
Captain Londy Ngcobo, ship navigator and Africa’s first female dredge master.
Ms. Angelica Romero, Chief of Commerce and Sustainable Development of the Undersecretariat of International Economic Relations in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Chile
Day One concluded with a reception hosted by Secretary-General Mr. Kitack Lim attended by the delegation of Saudi Arabia. The delegation was made up by Alternate Permanent Representative of Saudi Arabia to IMO, Ms. Hayat AlYabis, and representative from the Coast Guard, and the Red Sea Zone Authority.
The International Day for Women in Maritime celebrates women in the industry and is intended to promote the recruitment, retention and sustained employment of women in the maritime sector, raise the profile of women in maritime, strengthen IMO's commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 5 (gender equality) and support work to address the current gender imbalance in maritime.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is proud to be supporting and empowering women in the maritime sector thorough events like this and various other initiatives.
