September 14th, 2022 was the beginning of the International Maritime Organizations (IMO)’s Sub Committee on the Carriages of Cargoes and Containers. This featured the IMO’s return to in-person meetings in a hybrid format for the first time since 2020.
In order to mark this historic occasion, The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was delighted to host the first coffee break of CCC8 to celebrate this occasion and to welcome back the 175 Member States, industry representatives and observes during the Sub-Committee on Carriage of Cargoes and Containers (CCC) 8th Session. The event was attended by over 200 representatives, as well as the Secretary-General of the IMO, Mr. Kitack Lim and showcased Saudi Coffee and traditional Arabic sweets. As 2022 AD also marks the Year of Saudi Coffee delegates and guests were informed of the cultural significance that coffee holds in the Kingdom.
This relationship has been present through a long history which is closely linked to tradition. The Kingdom’s process of cultivation, harvest, preparation, and presentation of coffee symbolizes both generosity and hospitality combined with a cultural legacy.
