Saudi Arabia attends the ‘Maritime Cyprus’ 2022 Conference

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia attended the bi-annual Maritime Cyprus 2022 Conference in Limassol, Cyprus organised by the Shipping Deputy Ministry in cooperation with the Cyprus Shipping Chamber and the Cyprus Union of Shipowners.

 

The Conference brought together more than 1,000 participants, including ship owners, shipping executives, regulators and state officials from all over the world, including high-calibre speakers and provided the opportunity to the participants to become familiar with the strong maritime tradition of Cyprus.

The Keynote address was given by Secretary General Kitack Lim, Adina Valean the European Union Commissioner for Transportation, and Vassilios Demetriades Shipping Deputy Minister to the President of Cyprus who discussed addressing new challenges related to alternative fuels and shipping decarbonization.

The conference highlighted the strong maritime connection between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Cyprus with Saudi Arabia’s attendance including His Excellency Mr. Khaled bin Mohammed Al-Sharif, Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to Cyprus, His Excellency Mr. Omar Hariri, President MAWANI Saudi Ports Authority, and the Kingdom’s Permanent Representative to the International Maritime Organization, Eng. Essam Alammari who together attended the conference and engaged with the forum and maritime national and international representatives, highlighting the detailed maritime initiatives Saudi Arabia is undertaking.
